As a mum of 3 and working scientist, this is an unusual but oh so excellent place to find myself in. Like many of you I have joined the ‘gin revolution’ and was introduced to gin mixers containing dehydrated citrus on a rare mum’s night out. I purchased my first small dehydrator and discovered a new hobby. With an exceptionally busy life I found hand slicing the fruit and rotating it on my little dehydrator, the perfect was to calm my busy mind.
Once my first lot of fruit was dehydrated I picked myself up a couple of cute glass jars and labelled them with twine and rustic styled labels. I put these on display in my living area and that was that. Unexpectedly I got a lot of comments from visitors about how nice they looked which got me to thinking, why not see (in the era of gin’s rebirth) if there was some interest in my little jars. I crunched some numbers, posted an ‘are these of interest’ post on a local FB page and I was pleasantly surprised with the response. ‘Dry Orchard’ was born the next day!
Dehydrated fruits are amazing in gin cocktails, perfect for spicing up a mineral water, great for dressing up baked goods and even amazing for arts and crafts! Honestly their use is really only limited by your imagination!
All Dry Orchard fruit garnishes are packaged in gorgeous rustic styled jars, that look amazing on display. Our jars feature an air tight clamp seal to ensure you treats stay perfectly crispy for months, unlike dehydrated fruit bought in bags that then get stored in good old Tupperware (yep! I’ve been there! lol)
Seasonal fruit limitations apply but luckily many fruits are available all year round. Please feel free to send me ‘custom requests’ as if “I can buy it, I can dry it!
